Why did you pursue writing?
I think that I’ve always been more of a story teller
really. Who isn’t? We tell stories to each other and
that’s something that we do. I
chose to peruse writing because I hated my life at one point. I was working in a dead end job and
been passed over twice for promotion.
I was poor, hungry and I wanted a better life. I did what I always did escape into a different world. I couldn’t read anymore because my
patience had been shot for that so I started writing.
What inspired your book?
Sobriety and hate.
I went through a rough patch two years ago when I started working in
earnest on Spring Blessings and was just coming out of that. I’d started getting myself healthy part
of which was sobriety. The
other thing was hate. I personally
can’t stand fantasy books because they treat people like idiots and I really
hadn’t read anything that reflected what I wanted to read. Modern fantasy that had some real work
under it.
How long have you been publishing your work?
For a while. I
wrote a bunch of short stories back in the day that are still out there but
this is my first novel.
Oddly, I have a hard time writing at a desk. I will but I only need two things. 1) a
flat surface and 2) some bad TV.
Right now I’m writing to Criminal Minds which isn’t a bad show just
really laughable at times but it’s really great for what I’m working on.
What projects are you currently working on?
Master’s thesis?
But seriously, I’m currently working on the follow up to Spring
Blessings which is Summer Sacrifice.
I hope to get that out by June.
