Interview with Iris Marie Mack with A Wall Street Bailout for Main Street: This Bulletproof Trade Will Help You Get Paid

How long did it take you to write your book?As you can see from my Amazon Author page, this book – A Wall Street Bailout for Main Street: This Bulletproof Trade Will Help You Get Paid – is my third published book. My coauthors and I wrote this book in our spare time – some were full-time graduate students, some were working full-time at their jobs, and me while teaching, running my small business and trading my portfolio. This juggling act started around October 2015 and lasted until December 2016 – when my third book was published.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Both. It depends on the task at hand, my schedule of activities and that of my co-authors.
Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym? No. My three books have been related to my professional career in academia, energy and financial markets and my small business. So it seemed to make sense to write these books under my real name.

What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning your book?Over the past few years, I’ve taught courses on energy trading and risk management – on a university level, for executive courses on Wall Street, in Europe, and Asia. Whenever I lectured and conducted trading labs on the bulletproof trading strategy discussed and illustrated in this book, I noticed a transformation in many of my students. It’s like a light bulb turning on in their heads. They seem to sit up, take notice and lean in to soak up what I am trying to impart. It is simply fascinating to look out into the trading lab and/or lecture halls to observe this.
Eventually, I got the idea to start talking about this bulletproof trading strategy with relatives, friends, colleagues, and even some strangers – to get their reaction. Surprisingly, theirs was almost the same reaction as many of my students. Some even got angry and would ask, “Why the heck hasn’t my broker told me about this?”
Several people have gone so far as to ask, and some even demand, that I tutor them on this trading strategy. A few asked if I would take a bit of money from their portfolios and do some trades on their behalf in my personal portfolio. A couple of them even started to read my second published book – Energy Trading and Risk Management: A Practical Approach to Hedging, Trading and Portfolio Diversification - to try to learn more about this trading strategy. However, to their chagrin, this book was a bit too technical for several of them. So, this is why I decided to write a how-to book about this bulletproof trading strategy for the laypersons – based on some of the more technical concepts presented in my energy trading book.
Do you believe in writer’s block? I normally experienced “writer’s block” when I was tired and/or distracted. So normally to solve this problem I would take a break from writing (nap a bit, or go to bed, workout, listen to music, talk to family, friends….).\
